Les Porter - Artist in Residence

Les Porter, Abbeygate gallerie's Artist in Residence, has spent most of his early life in the Humber Fire service. Forced to take early retirement for back injuries which saw the end of his brigade service. This misfortune gave the opportunity and challenge to fulfil his ambition to become a professional painter.

From His earliest age Les has been drawing and painting, he thoroughly enjoys his new lifestyle in creating works for a discerning public.

Working mainly in oil, pastels and water colours. small and large commissions enable les to take his work to a wide range of people. His work is now hung on walls through out this country and abroad.

Abbeygate Galleries have the pleasure of exhibiting and selling his work. Also allowing the general public the opportunity to see a craftsman at work and pick up some valuable advice in our Art Workshops lead by, Les porter.
